ISLAMABAD(NEWS REPORTER)
Officers Association of Pakistan Customs Service has strongly condemned recent actions by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), calling them arbitrary, unjust, and detrimental to the morale and career progression of officers.
In a statement issued today, the Association criticized the subjective categorization of officers, arguing that it has undermined reputations and stalled rightful promotions. The officers also expressed outrage over the abrupt transfer of a highly respected senior officer, viewing it as a blatant misuse of authority aimed at enforcing unquestioning compliance rather than fostering merit-based governance.
Another major concern raised was the suspension of officers for merely requesting transfers to their home stations due to serious personal circumstances. The Association asserted that such punitive measures erode professional commitment and set a dangerous precedent for administrative decision-making.
The officers have put forward the following demands:
Transparency in the legal basis for officer categorization and the recourse available to those affected.
Immediate cancellation of the controversial transfer order of the senior officer.
A review and revision of the suspension policy to ensure fairness and empathy.
Resolution of the long-standing promotion deadlock to restore career progression.
The Association has urged the Chairman of FBR to take swift action to rectify these injustices. Failure to address these concerns, they warn, will lead to widespread disillusionment and further deterioration of morale within the Pakistan Customs Service.
