Following directives from the Divisional Intelligence Committee, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA)’s Task Force is ramping up its operations against illegal housing schemes. The RDA Squad has executed a significant operation targeting four illegal housing schemes and one land sub-division: Aroura Housing Scheme, Al-Khan Enclave (Extension), Khawas Town, Wah-Hills and Land Sub-Division (Saqib Tanoli, Abid Nawaz Qureshi). These schemes are located in Mouzas Lab Thatho, Niko, Bajar and Pind Bhoti, Tehsil Taxila and District Rawalpindi.
The operation led to the removing / demolition of advertisement board, electric poles, sign board, kerb stones, footpath, road infrastructure and sewerage of above mentioned illegal housing schemes, according to an RDA spokesperson.
The crackdown was supervised by the Director General (DG) RDA, Kinza Murtaza, who emphasized the continuation of such operations to combat fraudulent practices and protect citizens from exploitation.
The DG RDA said that under the guidance of the Commissioner Rawalpindi, we are committed to maintaining a vigorous approach in eliminating illegal housing societies.
She emphasized that public complaints regarding illegal land occupation by housing scheme owners are being taken seriously, and strict actions will be taken against those involved in forceful land grabs.
The RDA consistently issues press releases to inform the public and advises citizens to avoid investing in illegal housing schemes. The public is encouraged to visit the RDA website (www.rda.gop.pk) and only engage with approved housing schemes.
Despite previous warnings to cease illegal advertisements, bookings, and development activities, the owners of the mentioned housing schemes continued to operate booking offices in violation of regulations.
The key team members of the operation were Director Land Malik Ghazanfer Ali, Deputy Director Planning Muhammad Samiullah Niazi, Deputy Director Admin Iftikhar Ali, Assistant Director Planning Mehwish Naseem, along with RDA Scheme/Building Inspectors and other team members.
