Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa Inaugurats First-Ever Robotic Bariatric Surgery at Capital Hospital CDA

Capital Hospital CDA organised the 2nd Pakistan Obesity Week, marking a significant milestone with the first-ever Robotic Bariatric Surgery Workshop in the country. This landmark event was inaugurated by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Member Administration Talat Mahmood and Member Estate Asfandyar Baloch.

He said that I congratulate CDA for innovation through Robotic Bariatric Surgery which is first in Pakistan. He said that in the technological input CDA has brought to CDA hospital which will going to be a most important achievement and milestone in the history of CDA Hospital specially in the era of the competition where we have got lot of government and private hospitals around us. CDA hospital is not only maintaining its quality and patients care health services but also has raised the standard of Medicare. He said that there is always room for improvements, we will continue to have professional and the most important that dedicated team to work around the clock to provide maximum modern and state of the art health facilities to CDA employees as well as citizens of Islamabad. He appreciated the effort of ED and his team of CDA Hospital for introducing first ever Robotics Bariatric Surgery in CDA Hospital. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa also visited various wards of CDA Hospital including CCU, ICU and inquired about the health of the patients. The Patients appreciated Muhammad Ali Randhawa Chairman CDA for personally visiting them and inquiring their health. The patients lauded the services of CDA Hospital under the supervision of Member Administration Talat Mahmood.

Earlier Dr. Naeem Taj, Executive Director of CDA Hospital in his welcome address, appreciated Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa and emphasised the transformative role of robotic surgery in the future of minimally invasive procedures. He highlighted that robotic-assisted surgery offers superior precision, enhanced dexterity, and improved ergonomics for the surgeon, while patients benefit from smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, minimal postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times.

Dr. Tanseer Asghar, the Organiser of Obesity Week, provided an overview of the week-long program, which included live surgical demonstrations, hands-on workshops, academic sessions, and interactive case discussions. He shared insights into the variety of bariatric procedures performed, emphasizing the program’s role in skill-building and international collaboration.

Dr. Sartaj Ali presented a comprehensive review of the 1st Obesity Week, outlining the significant progress made over the past year in bariatric services at Capital Hospital.

The event was further honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Shoaib Shafi, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), who commended the initiative and reassured continued support for postgraduate training programs at Capital Hospital, underlining CPSP’s commitment to advancing surgical education and capacity building.

Renowned bariatric surgeons from Pakistan, UAE, Taiwan, and Turkey participated in the event, performing live surgeries and contributing to knowledge exchange and international collaboration.

In his closing remarks, Chairman CDA, Mr. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting academic excellence and research in healthcare, announcing plans to expand such initiatives at Capital Hospital CDA to promote cutting-edge, patient-centered care.
