NAB has decided to auction several properties owned by Bahria Town. A public notice has been issued, marking the beginning of the process.
According to National Accountability Bureau , six properties belonging to Bahria Town’s founder and chairman, Malik Riaz, will be auctioned. These include five properties in Rawalpindi and one in Islamabad. NAB says the auction is being held to recover payments that defaulted as part of a plea bargain agreement.
The auction is scheduled for June 12 and will take place at the NAB office in Rawalpindi.
The advertisement lists the following properties for auction:
Bahria Town Corporate Office 1, Plot No. 7E, Park Road, Bahria Town Phase 11, Rawalpindi
Bahria Town Corporate Office 11, Plot No. 70, Park Road, Bahria Town Phase 1, Rawalpindi
Roo Pesh Market and Lawn, located in Bahria Garden City near the Garden City Golf Course, Bahria Town Islamabad
Arena Cinema, Plot No. A-984, Bahria Town Phase 4, Rawalpindi
Bahria Town International Academy (school building), situated on Jasmine and Silver Oaks Road, Safari Villas 2, Bahria Town Rawalpindi
Safari Club, Plot No. 27, Safari Villas 1, Bahria Town Rawalpindi
It’s worth noting that earlier in March this year, NAB had sealed several high-rise residential and commercial properties of Bahria Town located in Karachi, Lahore, Takht Pari, New Murree Golf City, and Islamabad.
This action was part of ongoing fraud investigations involving Malik Riaz and others. NAB had frozen hundreds of Bahria Town’s bank accounts and seized dozens of vehicles.
According to NAB officials, some individuals were allegedly transferring funds to Malik Riaz’s Dubai projects. As a result, efforts were launched to bring him back to Pakistan from abroad.
In an official statement, NAB reminded the public that multiple fraud cases against Malik Riaz Ahmed and his associates are still under investigation. The bureau, fulfilling its mandate, emphasized its responsibility to keep the public informed.
NAB has already filed several references in accountability courts in Islamabad and Karachi. These courts have issued summons to all accused persons.
The cases include serious allegations against Malik Riaz and his team—such as the illegal occupation of both government and private land in Karachi, Takht Pari (Rawalpindi), and New Murree. The accused are also charged with establishing unauthorized housing schemes and defrauding the public of billions of rupees.
In the meantime, NAB has advised the public not to invest in Malik Riaz’s Dubai project. The bureau warned that anyone investing in his Dubai apartments may face action under anti-money laundering laws.
The statement made it clear that NAB is investigating multiple fraud and deception cases involving the Bahria Town owner. It added that NAB has strong evidence showing that Malik Riaz and his associates not only grabbed public and private land illegally but also launched unauthorized housing societies and committed large-scale financial fraud in the name of Bahria Town.
