(Ehsan Bukhari – Special Correspondent):
A major financial irregularity amounting to Rs. 510 million has been uncovered in the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF), specifically related to the Build of Property (BOP) process in Sector G-14/1, Islamabad.
According to sources, affected residents had submitted claims under the Build of Property category in the G-14/1 sector. However, many of these individuals approached the office of Deputy Commissioner (FGEHF) Yasir Qayyum, alleging massive fraud and favoritism in the disbursement of compensation.
The complainants accused the Revenue Department’s Deputy Commissioner, Tehsildar, and Patwaris—identified as Khurram, Imran, and Sajid—of collusion. They claim that payments worth hundreds of millions of rupees were being made to individuals who do not reside on the site, while the actual landowners and long-time residents were being neglected.
“We live on the land and are the rightful claimants, yet we are being sidelined. The authorities are distributing compensation to people who have never been seen on the site,” one protester said.
When contacted for comment, Deputy Commissioner Yasir Qayyum’s phone was found switched off. Tehsildar Irfan Dogar, however, denied all allegations, stating, “The accusations are baseless. We are compensating only the rightful claimants. Most of the opposition comes from people trying to take undue advantage.”
Despite the official denial, affected residents stated they plan to submit formal complaints to the Director of Land today, urging immediate action and justice. Many gathered in protest outside the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and Tehsildar, demanding the Director General of Housing take urgent notice of the alleged corruption and provide relief to genuine claimants.
The situation remains tense, with residents pledging to continue their protest until their concerns are addressed and a transparent investigation is conducted.
