RAWALPINDI STAFF REPORTER
On the directions of the Director General (DG), Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza, enforcement squad RDA sealed a warehouse of PepsiCo on Defence Road, and site offices of two housing schemes namely Bostan Housing Scheme and Eastridge Housing Scheme on High Court Road, Rawalpindi. According to an RDA spokesperson, the action was taken due to serious violations of land use and construction bylaws.
The enforcement action is part of RDA’s ongoing campaign to ensure strict compliance with zoning and regulatory frameworks across the city. The warehouse was functioning without proper approvals and was in clear violation of existing zoning regulations.
The action against above mentioned two private housing schemes was taken after the housing schemes failed to comply with repeated instructions from the authority to submit the required Transfer Deed and Mortgage Deed, key legal documents necessary for lawful operation and registration.
Despite several notices and opportunities provided by the RDA, the developers did not fulfill the legal formalities, prompting decisive enforcement action in accordance with applicable regulations.
The DG RDA, Kinza Murtaza said RDA is committed to upholding the law and maintaining order in the city’s development. She said we urge all commercial entities to adhere strictly to legal requirements and obtain the necessary approvals before initiating operations.
This decisive move underscores RDA’s zero-tolerance policy towards unauthorized commercial activities and illegal constructions.
She said that the actions follow direct instructions from Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has mandated a zero-tolerance policy on encroachments and illegal developments.
The RDA also calls on the public to cooperate in preserving encroachment-free areas and contribute to making Rawalpindi’s streets safer, more accessible, and free of unnecessary congestion, she added.
The operation was conducted by Director Land RDA GhazanfarAli Awan, DD Land Raja Muhammad Saleem, Building Surveyor Aamir Mahmood Malik, and other RDA staff members.
