Islamabad IMTISAL BUKHARI
Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, has announced that the Islamabad Police have successfully solved several high-profile and blind murder cases, including the recent killing of Sardar Faheem, through the use of modern investigative techniques and swift action.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday alongside Inspector General (IG) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and other senior police officials, the Minister stated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains a top priority for the government. He praised the Islamabad Police for their professionalism and dedication in tracking down complex cases with no initial leads.
“One of the most troubling incidents in recent months was the blind murder of Sardar Faheem. It was a tragic and shocking event,” said Talal Chaudhry. “But thanks to the relentless efforts of our law enforcement agencies, especially the Islamabad Police, the culprits were arrested last night.”
The Minister further noted that Sardar Faheem’s case was not the only blind case resolved recently. Other cases included the murder of 22-year-old university student Iman, 17-year-old Sana Yousaf, the rape and murder of a foreign national, the kidnapping of a three-year-old child, a double murder near Lohi Bher Police Station, and the targeted killing of social worker Ahmad Hamza Khan.
“Some of these cases were solved in under 24 hours,” he added, citing Sana Yousaf’s case, where suspects were arrested more than 350 kilometers away from Islamabad within hours.
IG Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, called the Sardar Faheem case a major test for the police. On the night of June 25, Faheem was found murdered in his home, with the scene in complete disarray and no immediate motive or evidence. CCTV footage initially yielded no clues.
DIG Jawad Qamar led a massive operation involving 11 specialized teams. SSP Investigations Usman managed six teams, while SSP Operations Shoaib oversaw five. The teams included seasoned investigators, intelligence officers, and even local traffic constables with in-depth area knowledge. CIA under DSP Salman Shah also played a critical role.
The investigation involved inspecting nearby construction sites, questioning domestic staff, and analyzing criminal records of local workers. Using modern digital tools, police reviewed 271 CCTV feeds, conducted geofencing at 29 locations, and analyzed over 4,100 phone records. They interrogated 57 suspects and cross-checked over 200 known criminals in jails across Punjab.
Through the use of advanced software like Extreme Edge and the expertise of IT professionals, targeted raids were conducted. Simultaneous operations in Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Chiniot led to the arrest of both suspects and the recovery of stolen items and the weapon used in the crime.
According to police, the suspects entered Sardar Faheem’s home with the intent to rob. When Faheem resisted, he was brutally beaten and later tied up and tortured before the suspects ransacked the house and fled.
“This case, once a blind mystery, was solved not by chance but through the tireless and coordinated efforts of Islamabad Police,” said IG Rizvi.
