RAWALPINDI ( Staff Reporter ) :
On the directions of the Director General (DG), Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza, enforcement squad RDA intensified its crackdown on illegal encroachments and illegal constructions. As part of its grand operations, the RDA cleared the service road of University Town, removed unauthorized structures and sealed an illegal market and a marketing office.
According to an RDA spokesperson, the action was taken due to serious violations of land use and construction bylaws. The enforcement action is part of RDA’s ongoing campaign to ensure strict compliance with zoning and regulatory frameworks across the city. The market was functioning without proper approvals and was in clear violation of existing zoning regulations.
The DG RDA, Kinza Murtaza, said that RDA is committed to upholding the law and maintaining order in the city’s development. She said we urge all commercial entities to adhere strictly to legal requirements and obtain the necessary approvals before initiating operations.
This decisive move underscores RDA’s zero-tolerance policy towards unauthorized commercial activities and illegal constructions.
She said that the actions follow direct instructions from Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has mandated a zero-tolerance policy on encroachments and illegal developments.
The RDA also calls on the general public to cooperate in preserving encroachment-free areas and contribute to making Rawalpindi’s streets safer, more accessible, and free of unnecessary congestion, she added.
The DG RDA has directed the LU&BC Wing to take strict actions against encroachments, illegal and unauthorized constructions and commercial activities without any fear and favour.
The operation was conducted by the Director Land Ghazanfer Ali Awan, Assistant Director Land Dilshad Ali, Building Surveyor Aamir Mahmood Malik, Asim Khokhar, and other RDA staff members with the support of personnel from Police Station, New Islamabad International Airport.
