A high-level meeting of Pakistan Railways was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, to discuss the future roadmap of the institution. Key topics included strategic planning for the monsoon season, a nationwide cleanliness campaign, and strict enforcement against fare evasion.
Addressing the officials, Minister Hanif Abbasi emphasized that “dedication, honesty, and a strong national spirit are the need of the hour for Pakistan Railways.” He reiterated the importance of transforming the organization into a modern, efficient, and public-friendly institution through coordinated and result-oriented efforts.
In light of the potential risks posed by the monsoon season, the Minister issued immediate directives to all divisions to conduct regular and timely inspections of railway bridges, tracks, and related infrastructure. He stressed that preventive safety measures must be ensured to avoid any possible accidents, as the protection of passengers and staff is a top national priority.
The meeting also approved a strict crackdown on fare evasion. The Minister clearly announced that “those traveling without tickets — and those facilitating them — will face jail time.” Full implementation of the law will be ensured.
Under the “Saath Suthra Punjab” initiative, the Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the cleanliness and renovation of railway stations across Punjab. It was noted that modern cleaning systems, waste management, and consistent hygiene protocols are being enforced at stations.
Minister Abbasi also appealed to passengers to actively support efforts to keep the railway system clean, safe, and responsible. “Railways is our national asset, and its protection is a shared responsibility,” he concluded.
