Australian Ambassador Meets Federal Minister for Railways to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Australian Ambassador Dr. Neil Hawkins met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, at the Ministry of Railways today. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of collaboration between Pakistan and Australia.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on fostering cooperation in the railway sector, particularly in the areas of technical expertise, knowledge exchange, and modernization. Discussions also included the possibility of launching tourism-based rail services and organizing training programs to build technical capacity.

Federal Minister Hanif Abbasi highlighted new opportunities for partnership aimed at the development of Pakistan Railways, while appreciating the efficiency and advancements of Australia’s railway system.

Ambassador Hawkins praised the recent reforms introduced in Pakistan Railways, calling them commendable and expressing optimism that these measures would play a significant role in the sector’s progress.

In addition to rail-related matters, the two officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening educational, cultural, and people-to-people ties between the two countries. The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts, symbolizing the cordial and friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia.
