In line with the direction of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a large-scale anti-encroachment operation is underway across Islamabad, particularly along GT Road Tarnol and T-Chowk to Rawat. The operation is being conducted under the supervision of CDA Deputy Director General (Enforcement) and Director DMA Dr. Anum Fatima, with support from the district adminintration and Islamabad Police.
According to details, the operation against illegal constructions and encroachments on GT Road has successfully cleared over 80% of government land up to the Sangjani Toll Plaza. Additionally, approximately 70% of a six-kilometer stretch on one side of the road from the Toll Plaza to the ICT limits has been cleared. Efforts are also underway to clear dumping points for construction materials, with arrangements made in collaboration with the MPO Directorate to remove construction debris.
During the operation, several shops and hotels, including Pak Khyber Shinwari, were sealed, and notices were issued to their owners. Fifteen individuals were taken into custody, 18 shops and restaurants were sealed and eight dumpers were impounded. CDA officials said that these anti-encroachment efforts will continue consistently to keep Islamabad free from illegal constructions and encroachments.
Furthermore, during the anti-encroachment drive in Rawat and around T-Chowk, approximately 3.5 kilometers out of a 6.5-kilometer area have been cleared. Today, 38 illegally under-construction structures were demolished using heavy machinery and 18 signboards were removed.
On this occasion, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) administration emphasized that anti-encroachment operations are crucial for the city’s beauty and organized planning, and no leniency will be shown in this regard. Citizens are urged to cooperate fully with the relevant departments during this campaign and to immediately report any illegal encroachments to the concerned authorities.
