Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin contacted the Managing Directors of WASA in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Gujranwala to assess the situation following last night’s heavy rainfall.

Bilal Yasin emphasized that the protection of citizens’ lives and property during the monsoon season is the top priority of the Punjab government. He stated that all available resources are being utilized to ensure timely and effective drainage of rainwater.

Following an alert issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), both WASA and district administrations have been put on high alert to handle any emergency situations promptly.

According to Muhammad Saleem Ashraf, Managing Director of WASA Rawalpindi, the organization’s staff and machinery were on full alert during the rainfall. He added that drainage from all affected areas was completed within just two hours after the rain stopped.

The Provincial Minister also directed WASA officials across all cities to ensure proactive preparations to handle any potential challenges during the monsoon period, so that the public faces minimal inconvenience.

A WASA spokesperson confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored, and rapid response teams are fully prepared to take immediate action in case of any emergency.
