A high-level delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) visited the iconic Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia in the energy sector.

The visit was organized by Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Bin Mazlan. According to a statement released by ICCI on Saturday, Dato’ Azhar emphasized the strong and time-tested friendship between Malaysia and Pakistan, built on mutual trust and shared prosperity.

He welcomed ICCI’s initiative to engage with Petronas — one of Malaysia’s flagship companies — and said such efforts would unlock new avenues for business collaboration and further strengthen bilateral economic relations.

Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Senior Vice President of ICCI, highlighted that energy, especially petroleum, is the backbone of modern economies, and Pakistan’s rapidly growing energy demand presents vast opportunities for international investors. He noted that Petronas had previously contributed to Pakistan’s energy sector and invited the company to re-establish its presence in Pakistan. He encouraged Petronas to explore new ventures in exploration, refining, LNG, and downstream facilities.

Siddiqui emphasized that Pakistan is pursuing investor-friendly reforms and policies, making its petroleum and energy sectors increasingly attractive for global corporations. He assured the Petronas leadership of ICCI’s full support in facilitating their operations in Pakistan.

ICCI Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry added that Petronas’s renewed engagement would significantly boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan. He said such collaboration would open new avenues of development, including technology transfer and job creation.

The ICCI delegation included Convener of the Delegation Committee Imran Minhas, Convener of the ASEAN Committee Chaudhry Muhammad Ali, and other board members. Tahira Javed, Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, was also present during the visit.
