The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has released a progress report on the restoration of electricity in flood-affected areas as of August 30.
According to the report issued on Saturday, several regions under PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company), including Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi, and D.I. Khan, experienced significant disruption, with 12 grid stations and 91 feeders affected. Out of these, 84 feeders have been fully restored while 7 have been partially restored.
Power restoration in Swabi and D.I. Khan under PESCO has been fully completed. In the GEPCO (Gujranwala Electric Power Company) jurisdiction, which includes Sialkot, Narowal, Wazirabad, and Hafizabad, 10 grid stations and 87 feeders were impacted. So far, 68 feeders have been fully restored, and 17 are partially operational.
In the LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company) region — covering Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana — 56 feeders have been partially restored. Full restoration in these areas is expected between August 31 and September 5.
Meanwhile, in FESCO (Faisalabad Electric Supply Company) areas such as Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, and D.I. Khan, 17 grid stations and 53 feeders have been temporarily restored.
MEPCO (Multan Electric Power Company) reported damage to 67 feeders. Restoration efforts in MEPCO areas will begin as soon as floodwaters recede.
In the TESCO (Tribal Electric Supply Company) region, two feeders in North Waziristan have been temporarily restored, with full restoration anticipated by September 5.
Overall, out of a total of 39 grid stations and 356 feeders affected nationwide, 152 feeders have been fully restored, and 202 have been temporarily restored. The report adds that field teams from DISCOs are working around the clock, and power supply in the affected areas will be fully restored as soon as possible.
