NBF MD Dr. Kamran Jahangir Visits Multan Regional Office, Announces Major Literary Initiatives

Managing Director of the National Book Foundation (NBF), Dr. Kamran Jahangir, paid a visit to the NBF Regional Office in Multan, where he was warmly welcomed by authors, intellectuals, and NBF staff from Multan and surrounding areas during a special reception held in his honor.

According to an official statement issued by the NBF on Saturday, the event was attended by a large number of writers, journalists, and literary figures who gathered to celebrate the Foundation’s continued commitment to promoting book culture in Pakistan.

In his address, Dr. Kamran Jahangir highlighted that despite limited resources, the NBF is actively implementing comprehensive measures to foster a reading culture across the country. He noted the successful publication of numerous new books and reiterated the Foundation’s ongoing support for Multan’s vibrant literary community.

Dr. Jahangir announced plans for a major book fair to be held soon in Multan, alongside the expansion of NBF’s franchise centers to enhance book distribution and marketing. He also declared an increase in the number of “Book Ambassadors” and the revival of NBF’s monthly literary journal “Kitab,” with NBF spokesperson and editor Saleem Akhtar reaching out to writers for contributions.

The event featured a poetic recital by renowned poet Shakir Hussain Shakir and was attended by notable literary personalities including Professor Anwar Jamal, poet-author-journalist Raziuddin Razi, regional representative of the Academy of Letters Azhar Saleem Majoka, senior writer Mukhtar Zafar, Dr. Arbab Abdul Salam, poet Muhammad Mukhtar Ali, Muhammad Rafiq Qureshi, and publisher Ali Mumtaz of Kiran Roshni.

Other distinguished guests included Qamar Raza Shehzad, Ali Naqvi, Professor Amjad Ramay, Khawaja Mazhar Nawaz Siddiqui, Sajid Jahanian, Resident Director of Punjab Arts Council Multan Saleem Qaiser, Nasir Mahmood Sheikh, Qaisar Abbas, Sabir Javed Yaad, Sohail Abidi, Rashid Hussaini, Fayyaz Awan, and Muhammad Zubair.

The visit marked a renewed spirit of literary collaboration and institutional support for the region’s authors and readers.
