Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced that Rawalpindi Division’s first mother and children hospital, with a capacity of 1,000 beds, will be completed by the end of this year, marking a significant milestone and a major gift for the citizens. He made the announcement during a ceremony at Government Waqar-un-Nisa College, Rawalpindi, attended by National Assembly member Tahira Aurangzeb, Provincial Assembly member Muhammad Hanif Advocate, Principal Ziaullah Shah, faculty members, and a large number of students.
Hanif Abbasi praised the revolutionary steps taken by the Pakistan Muslim League (N) government in various sectors including health, education, and sanitation. He emphasized that true leadership is proven through actions rather than empty promises. He credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his unwavering commitment to public service and for prioritizing the provision of modern healthcare facilities.
Highlighting the importance of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) as a national asset, Hanif Abbasi said that the institute treats patients from all over the country, with 60 percent of them coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions. He also announced that by November this year, kidney and liver transplant services will begin at the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.
The minister revealed that the 1,000-bed mother and children hospital, costing 7 billion PKR, had remained incomplete for several years but is now nearing completion. He applauded the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Asim Munir for their notable achievements in the economy and foreign policy, bringing respect and recognition to Pakistan globally.
Hanif Abbasi commended the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces for their victories and sacrifices, which have defended the nation against its enemies. He also lauded Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for her revolutionary initiatives in road infrastructure, cleanliness, transport, and education.
Promising further development in his constituency, Hanif Abbasi announced the establishment of two international-standard schools that will set examples nationwide. He also noted significant investments in upgrading school facilities including boundary walls and toilets.
The minister highlighted the transformation of Lahore Railway Station into a world-class facility and described Pakistan Railways as a vital link connecting all four provinces and their diverse cultures. He assured that by December 31, 2025, Pakistan Railways would adopt a modernized system.
Additionally, Hanif Abbasi informed the public about the ongoing installation of an 80-kilometer-long gas pipeline in Rawalpindi, aimed at providing relief during the winter season.
Recalling the legacy of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he mentioned the universities, bridges, underpasses, and stadiums in Rawalpindi as shining examples of public service. He praised Government Waqar-un-Nisa College for offering excellent academic and sports opportunities for women, noting it is the only college in Pakistan with a dedicated hockey stadium for female students.
Concluding his speech, Hanif Abbasi urged students to focus wholeheartedly on their education and to respect their parents and teachers, emphasizing that these values are the true path to success and progress.
