Islamabad (Special Correspondent) :
The federal government has failed to provide relief to the public as petrol prices remain unchanged in Pakistan, despite a significant drop in global crude oil prices. A summary was sent to the federal government by OGRA, informing them that crude oil prices in the international market have fallen and are now at 2019 levels.
Currently, the international price of crude oil has dropped to $66.69 per barrel, matching rates last seen in 2019. However, the government has decided to maintain the petrol price at Rs 264.61 per liter for the next 15 days. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs 3 per liter, bringing it down to Rs 269.99 per liter.
Sources indicate that OGRA’s chairman had fully briefed the federal government about the decline in global petroleum prices and urged them to pass on the benefit to the public. Despite this, the government chose not to reduce petrol prices, offering no relief to citizens at a time when petroleum prices are falling globally but remain high in Pakistan.
