Pakistan’s Economy and Defense in Strong Hands, Says Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi

ISLAMABAD STAFF REPORTER

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi said on Tuesday that Pakistan’s economy and defense are currently in safe and capable hands, urging parliamentarians and the public to refrain from unnecessarily criticizing bureaucracy and contractors for the sake of social media virality.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Abbasi emphasized the need for responsible governance and collective ownership, stating.”We should not harm the performance of our government by adopting an opposition-like attitude while sitting on the treasury benches.”

Criticism of Bureaucracy Undermines Governance

Abbasi defended public institutions, noting that good and bad people exist everywhere, including the bureaucracy and parliament, and cautioned against generalizing or maligning entire institutions.

“Standing here and targeting them is not the solution,” he added.

He said that during recent floods and heavy rains in Rawalpindi, his constituency worked actively on relief efforts, and if there are any encroachments in his area, it is his responsibility to address them.

Acknowledges National and Military Strength

Praising the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, Abbasi called the reception in Beijing “unprecedented” and reflective of Pakistan’s growing stature in the world.

“We are now being seen as victors on the global stage — a result of our field marshals’ bravery and the sacrifices of our soldiers,” he said.

He also denounced the political atmosphere created by PTI, stating:

“PTI has polluted the environment so badly that even the victims of floods in DHA became the subject of mockery. This culture must stop.”

Rejects Undermining National Leadership

Abbasi strongly condemned efforts to discredit the Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister, asserting that their work speaks for itself.

“We do not blackmail anyone. No contractor dares to deliver substandard work and expect payment under our watch,” he said.

Calls for National Unity and Respect for Institutions

He urged fellow lawmakers to speak the truth and represent their constituents with integrity, reminding them of the sacrifices made for the country:

“We’ve endured prisons. Those who protect the country and the people are the real power. Our falcons (air force pilots) have made contributions in war that the world will never forget.”

Abbasi concluded by stating that the world respects Pakistan today because of its military’s sacrifices and the firm leadership steering the nation forward.
