Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan achieved a remarkable victory in the recent Pakistan-India war, attributing the success to divine help and the unwavering unity and resolve of the Pakistani nation.
Addressing a special event commemorating Defence Day at Government College Women University (GCWU) Sialkot, the minister said, “Our entire nation stood like a ‘Bunyan-e-Marsous’—a solid wall of resistance. Our brave soldiers displayed an unshakable spirit of patriotism, ready to lay down their lives for every inch of their motherland.”
Khawaja Asif recalled witnessing the moment when Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir named the operation “Bunyan-e-Marsous”, adding that it was a historic battle that demonstrated the might and discipline of Pakistan’s armed forces.
He emotionally recounted a visit to an airbase with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif where they met the young personnel, including a female officer, who had heroically countered the Indian Air Force. “That moment was so spiritually moving that words cannot fully express it,” he said.
The Minister also paid tribute to Major Ramzan Shaheed, who gave his life to save a fellow soldier. “His mother expressed pride over his martyrdom. These martyrs are the real heroes of our nation,” he added.
Khawaja Asif highlighted the extraordinary courage shown by Pakistan’s air force during Operation Bunyan-e-Marsous, where a limited number of Pakistani fighter jets confronted and overpowered hundreds of enemy aircraft, hitting precise targets and neutralizing the Indian threat. He claimed that the operation left India’s leadership deeply wounded, and its BrahMos missile systems, worth billions of dollars, were rendered ineffective.
“Wherever I go in the world,” he said, “people ask me how this victory was possible. I tell them that our soldiers fought with faith, courage, and an undying love for their country. I am proud to have witnessed it with my own eyes.”
The Defence Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s narrative is now being recognized globally, and that today’s Pakistan carries the same spirit as in 1965. “Our youth have shown the world that Pakistan is undefeatable,” he said, noting that these defining moments will be remembered forever and continue to elevate Pakistan’s stature internationally.
He also praised the students of GC Women University for their heartfelt recitations of the Qur’an, naats, and Allama Iqbal’s poetry, saying their performance added great spirit to the event.
