COAS Visits Flood Relief Camps in Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala, Emphasizes Coordinated Civil-Military Response

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, visited flood relief camps in Kasur Sector and Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, to assess the current flood situation and ongoing relief efforts.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief’s visit was aimed at enhancing coordination between civil administration and the military to ensure effective assistance to the affected population.

The Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officials of the civil administration were also present during the visit. COAS was given a comprehensive briefing on the rescue and relief operations being carried out in the flood-affected areas.

In his interaction with civil authorities, the Army Chief stressed the importance of good governance and development rooted in public service. He emphasized the need to expedite all necessary measures, including the development of critical infrastructure, to safeguard the population from the devastating impact of floods.

He noted that the state cannot afford the annual loss of precious lives and property due to such natural disasters. Highlighting the importance of integrated civil-military efforts in addressing the challenges faced by flood-hit communities, he reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to support all public welfare initiatives.

During his visit, the COAS also interacted with flood victims rescued by the Army and the civil administration and assured them of continued support for their resettlement and rehabilitation.

Furthermore, the Army Chief met with military personnel, Rescue 1122 teams, and police officials involved in the relief efforts. He appreciated their high morale, operational readiness, and resilience in serving the nation under extremely challenging conditions. He also commended their round-the-clock efforts in close coordination with the civil administration to ensure timely relief and assistance to the people.

To assess the extent of the damage and ongoing relief operations, the COAS conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas including Lahore, Kasur, Multan, and Jalalpur Pirwala.

Earlier, upon his arrival in the flood-affected regions, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by the Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan.
