Federal IT Minister Sheza Fatima Vows to Eliminate Internet Disruptions, Ensure Connectivity in Flood-Hit Areas

Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shezra Fatima Khawaja, has assured the nation that the government is actively working with PTCL and international partners to immediately address slow internet services and connectivity disruptions across the country, particularly in flood-affected areas.

In an interview on Saturday, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving internet issues for users nationwide. She emphasized that the authorities are determined to eliminate interruptions in mobile and broadband services without delay, in collaboration with PTCL and global technology partners.

“The government is closely monitoring the situation, and swift action is being taken to restore full connectivity as soon as possible,” said Shezra Fatima. She explained that technical teams are working round-the-clock to identify the root causes of service disruptions and implement effective solutions.

She also noted that the government is investing in backup systems and alternative solutions to prevent future outages and improve the overall quality of internet services in the country.

Recognizing the difficulties faced by citizens, the minister acknowledged their frustration and provided reassurance that rapid recovery efforts are underway. She highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong communication infrastructure to support daily activities, business operations, and education.

Regarding flood-affected regions, Minister Shezra Fatima stressed that ensuring internet access in these disaster-hit areas remains a top priority. “Dedicated teams are on the ground working to restore services, ensuring that essential communication channels remain available for both public use and ongoing recovery efforts,” she said.

She confirmed that backup internet systems have already been activated in affected areas to minimize disruptions and help keep communities connected during these challenging times.

In response to a question, the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to providing 5G connectivity to every citizen. “Ensuring high-speed internet is essential to keeping pace with the global digital transformation. It will significantly contribute to economic growth and technological innovation,” she added.
