President Asif Ali Zardari Experiences China’s High-Speed Rail; Lauds Technological and Environmental Advancements

President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, recently traveled from Chengdu to Mianyang aboard a high-speed train during his official visit to China. The journey, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, showcased China’s world-leading rail infrastructure and its technological excellence.

During the journey, President Zardari was briefed on various aspects of the high-speed rail system, including its operations, services, safety measures, and environmental benefits. According to a statement issued by the President’s Media Wing, officials informed the President that China boasts the world’s largest high-speed railway network, spanning over 45,000 kilometers and serving more than two billion passengers annually.

These state-of-the-art trains operate at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour and connect almost all major cities across China. The system stands as a global benchmark for modern transportation infrastructure.

President Zardari praised China’s achievements in sustainable and resilient transportation, highlighting the electric, environmentally friendly nature of the rail system and its integration with early earthquake warning technologies. He described the railway engineering as a “marvel,” offering valuable insights for other nations, particularly Pakistan.

Accompanying the President were Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong—who is accompanying the President throughout the visit—and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla.

Upon arrival in Mianyang, President Zardari was warmly received by Deputy Mayor Wu Hao.
