resident of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, visited the Urban Operations and Management Center in Urumqi, China, where he was warmly received by the Mayor of Urumqi and the Vice Governor of Xinjiang.
According to a statement issued by the President’s House on Thursday, President Zardari and his delegation were briefed on the center’s operations. The facility integrates over 30 government departments into a unified digital platform, delivering more than 200 services to citizens.
Functioning as a one-window hub for public services, the center also coordinates operations in key sectors including public health, education, road safety, utilities, and emergency response.
President Zardari expressed deep interest in the digital model and commended the vision of the planners behind the initiative. He remarked that such an approach to urban management offers valuable lessons for Pakistan and expressed hope that Pakistani urban planners would draw insights from this experience and adapt similar systems to meet local needs.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, and China’s Ambassador to Pakistan were also present during the visit.
