Islamabad Sees 35% Drop in Robbery Incidents, 21% Overall Crime Reduction: SSP Operations Shoaib Khan

ISLAMABAD CRIME REPORTER

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad, Muhammad Shoaib Khan, has claimed a significant decline in major crimes across the capital, stating that robbery cases have decreased by 35% in 2025 compared to 2024, while incidents such as vehicle and motorcycle theft have seen an overall reduction of 21%.

Speaking at a major press conference held at the Rescue-15 headquarters, SSP Shoaib Khan highlighted Islamabad Police’s ongoing commitment to improving law and order in the federal capital. According to an official press release, the SSP said that the department is actively conducting operations against criminal elements across the city without any discrimination.

He shared that since February 2025, police teams have successfully arrested 839 suspects from 392 criminal gangs, including several Afghan-origin gangs involved in serious crimes.

“Before I assumed charge, Rescue-15 used to receive 60 to 70 emergency calls daily. Due to effective strategies and performance, we have brought this number down to just 5 to 10 calls a day,” said Shoaib Khan.

Highlighting a recent major breakthrough, SSP Khan revealed the arrest of seven members of two gangs, including the notorious Rajanpur gang, who had forcibly entered a residence, assaulted the occupants, and looted Rs. 8 million in cash, gold, and other valuables. The incident was reported through the Pukar-15 helpline, where even the domestic maid was found to be complicit. Police successfully recovered a significant portion of the stolen goods, worth millions of rupees.

He credited the Islamabad Safe City surveillance system for playing a pivotal role in tracking and apprehending suspects during these operations.

“Thanks to coordinated efforts, we have successfully brought crime under control in Islamabad,” SSP Khan added.

He further appealed to citizens to register their domestic workers at the Police Khidmat Markaz and verify their criminal records to ensure safety.

“Protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of Islamabad Police,” he concluded.
