Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bill Gates Reaffirm Commitment to Joint Efforts for Pakistan’s Socio-Economic Development

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Bill Gates, founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in Pakistan’s socio-economic development, with a particular focus on public health, nutrition, economic inclusion, and the digitalization of the economy.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, the meeting took place in a cordial environment on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the Gates Foundation’s notable humanitarian support during the devastating floods of 2022, as well as the recent assistance extended following the 2025 floods. He thanked Bill Gates for the foundation’s continued support in Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate polio, improve immunization, enhance nutrition, and promote financial inclusion.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the Gates Foundation’s consistent partnership in completely eradicating polio from Pakistan. He also acknowledged the foundation’s practical and constructive collaboration in Pakistan’s digital transformation and economic reform agenda.

Both leaders reiterated their shared vision to continue working together on key initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of the Pakistani people. They agreed to strengthen efforts in areas such as disease prevention, food security, human immunity enhancement, and inclusive economic growth through technology and innovation.

The meeting underscored the mutual commitment of the Government of Pakistan and the Gates Foundation to long-term, impactful cooperation aimed at uplifting the lives of millions of citizens across the country.
