WASHINGTON MONITORING DESK
U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized what he described as a “Triple Sabotage” during his recent visit to the United Nations headquarters, claiming a series of technical failures were part of a deliberate plot to disrupt his appearance.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump expressed outrage over the events that occurred on Tuesday during his arrival and speech at the UN. He claimed the escalator suddenly stopped, the teleprompter failed, and the sound system completely collapsed — all at once.
“This wasn’t just coincidence. It was a coordinated and disgraceful act,” Trump wrote. “The United Nations should be ashamed. I am officially writing to the Secretary-General demanding a full investigation.”
He further added that had he or First Lady Melania Trump fallen on the malfunctioning escalator, it could have resulted in a serious accident.
In response, a UN spokesperson clarified that the escalator stopped because a U.S. delegation videographer accidentally triggered the safety mechanism. As for the teleprompter, the spokesperson noted that it is controlled by the White House, not the UN. No formal response has yet been issued by the UN regarding Trump’s sabotage claims.
Trump’s comments have stirred debate on social media, with his supporters echoing concerns of foul play and critics dismissing the allegations as exaggerated. The incident comes amid heightened political activity and Trump’s continued presence in the 2024 political spotlight.
