Security forces in Chagai, Balochistan, have foiled an alleged militant plot after a major operation that left two militants dead and one surrendering, who has given a detailed confession implicating the group known as “Fitna-e-Hindustan,” officials said.
According to security sources, the operation on the night of September 23–24 surrounded a house where militants were hiding. During the raid, two suspects were killed in an exchange of fire. A third, identified by authorities as Jahanzeb (real name Jahanzeb Ali, organizational alias “Ali Jan”), surrendered after discarding his weapons and was taken into custody alive.
In an admission recorded by investigators, Jahanzeb said he had been associated with the group for the past two years and worked alongside a militant identified as Zubair Ahmed. He told interrogators that Zubair planned sabotage operations and that, during the security raid, Zubair shot himself to avoid capture while another militant, Nisar, was killed by security forces.
Jahanzeb said his surrender came after witnessing the deaths of his close associates, which prompted him to conclude that violence was not a solution. He also alleged that certain student circles and organizations had a misleading influence on youth, contributing to their recruitment into violent networks.
Security officials allege that members of the group planned attacks on critical installations in Balochistan. Analysts and defence sources cited by investigators claim that militants linked to Fitna-e-Hindustan have been involved in operations in the province, and accused entities such as the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and other groups of allegedly luring young people into militancy for nefarious ends.
Authorities said Jahanzeb’s confession and subsequent intelligence have helped disrupt planned attacks and provided leads for further investigations. The detained suspect is being held for questioning as security and counterterrorism agencies continue operations to prevent any further threats to the province.
Provincial and federal security officials stressed the importance of continued vigilance and community cooperation to counter radicalization and to protect Balochistan’s civilians and infrastructure.
