Pakistan Navy Launches Mangrove Plantation Campaign 2025 in Bin Qasim and Ghaus

The Pakistan Navy has officially launched the Mangrove Plantation Campaign 2025 in Bin Qasim and Ghaus. The event was graced by the Commander Coast as the chief guest, who inaugurated the campaign by planting the first sapling.

The campaign is a collaborative effort between the Forestry Departments of Sindh and Balochistan and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), aimed at promoting environmental awareness and conservation.

Key Role of Mangroves in Climate and Coastal Protection

In his address, the chief guest highlighted the critical role of mangroves in combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and protecting coastal communities. He described the campaign as an important step towards raising environmental awareness.

He also praised the cooperation between the Forestry Departments of Sindh and Balochistan, IUCN, and the Pakistan Navy. The mangrove plantation campaign is an integral part of the Navy’s broader environmental protection program.

Impact and Achievements

So far, the campaign has successfully planted 8.7 million mangrove saplings from Shah Bandar to Gwadar, significantly contributing to marine biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. These plantation efforts have also created substantial employment opportunities for local communities.

The Pakistan Navy emphasized that marine ecosystem protection and sustainable development remain core priorities in its environmental initiatives. The ongoing mangrove plantation campaign is a testament to the Navy’s unwavering commitment to ecological preservation.
