Govt-Awami Action Committee Talks to Resume After Friday Prayers Amid Hopes for Peaceful Resolution in AJK

On the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the next round of negotiations between the government committee and the Awami Action Committee is scheduled to take place after Friday prayers.

According to sources, no untoward incidents have been reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir since the initiation of the negotiation process. The high-level government delegation remains present in Muzaffarabad to oversee the ongoing talks.

The government’s negotiation team includes several senior political figures and ministers, including:

  • Former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf
  • Former AJK President Sardar Masood Khan
  • Senator Rana Sanaullah
  • Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal
  • Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousuf
  • PPP leader Chaudhry Qamar Zaman Kaira
  • Engineer Amir Muqam
  • Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

Representatives from the Azad Kashmir government are also expected to participate in the talks.

Sources revealed that following preliminary discussions with the central committee, leaders of the Awami Action Committee held lengthy internal consultations in Dhirkot. Federal ministers expressed optimism about the success of the talks during informal discussions on Thursday night.

The government hopes that continued dialogue will lead to a peaceful resolution of the situation and address the demands raised by the protestors in Azad Kashmir.
