Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has issued a strong response to recent statements made by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, accusing them of hypocrisy and inflammatory political behavior.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Bukhari criticized the PPP leadership for making repeated aggressive statements while simultaneously calling for political reconciliation. “On one hand, they talk about ceasefires, and on the other, they show up every hour with verbal gunfire,” she remarked. “How can you expect a ceasefire when your tongues are spitting flames?”
She questioned the sincerity of the PPP’s call for political harmony, stating, “Everyone seems to prepare themselves like they’re going to war—grabbing a mic only to hurl accusations and insults. Then they talk about reconciliation? That’s not how it works.”
Bukhari added that when the government responds to PPP’s provocations, they play the victim. “They incite constantly, and when we respond in moderation, they start crying foul,” she said. “Don’t lecture us on democracy — you haven’t carried it on your delicate shoulders.”
She further defended the leadership of her party, saying, “If you continue to attack our leadership day and night, do you expect us to greet you with garlands? It is our party’s and leadership’s grace that we remain silent even after such personal attacks.”
Bukhari also criticized PPP’s portrayal of Sindh, stating, “Sindh is not the personal estate of a feudal lord, which you keep referring to as ‘Sindhu Desh’ on every platform.”
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions between the ruling party in Punjab and the PPP, following a series of press conferences and statements exchanged between both sides in recent days.
