Pakistan has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, calling it a historic opportunity to establish lasting peace in the Middle East.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan praised the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump during the negotiation process, saying it reflects his unwavering commitment to global peace.

“We commend the tireless efforts of the leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye in facilitating this agreement,” he said, emphasizing the crucial diplomatic role played by these nations.

The spokesperson also expressed admiration for the resilience of the Palestinian people, who, he said, have suffered immensely. “Their suffering must never be repeated,” he added.

Strongly condemning the provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Shafqat Ali Khan urged the international community to hold the occupying forces and illegal settlers accountable for their actions.

He stressed the importance of preventing any measures that could undermine President Trump’s significant efforts to de-escalate tensions and pave the way for durable peace in the region.
