Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar Accuses PTI of Aiding Terrorists, Vows to Defeat Militancy

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has accused former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of consistently supporting terrorists and acting as facilitators at multiple forums. Speaking to media in Islamabad, he said there is a perception that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has effectively become the militant wing of PTI.

Minister Tarar praised the bravery of the Pakistan Army officers and soldiers who fought militancy, and said some elements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are obstructing peace efforts. He described PTI as a party of disruption, claiming it shows no regard for the sacrifices of martyrs or national integrity and instead seeks to foment division and create safe havens for militants in the province.

“It has been PTI’s practice to facilitate terrorists on international and domestic platforms,” he said, adding that the party’s founder and his supporters have acted as enablers of terrorism.

Recalling the nation’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, Tarar highlighted the martyrdom of children and civilians in past attacks, including the APS tragedy and other incidents such as Khuzdar, saying those sacrifices cannot be forgotten. He recounted a bereaved father who lost three children yet declared his willingness to give his life for Pakistan — a testament, the minister said, to national resilience.

Tarar lauded the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their steadfastness and paid tribute to the armed forces, civilians, shopkeepers, doctors, engineers and children who all played roles in resisting militancy. He reiterated the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism under the National Action Plan, saying the entire nation stands united to uproot militancy.

The minister also praised the success of military operations — including Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and Operation Zarb-e-Azb — for delivering a decisive blow to terrorism, restoring security to markets and public spaces. He condemned attacks on mosques and innocent worshippers, saying such violence has no place in Islam and that the blood of religious scholars is part of the soil’s sacrifice.

Tarar contrasted his party’s position with that of political rivals and reiterated that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and citizens will never be forgotten, reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving national security and unity.
