Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik represented Pakistan at the International Gas Forum held in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Russia in the fields of energy and minerals.
During the forum, the Minister held key meetings with global economic and energy leaders. Addressing a high-level panel session, Ali Pervaiz Malik highlighted the major reforms introduced in Pakistan’s energy sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at creating a favorable environment for foreign investment.
The Minister also invited international investors to participate in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, emphasizing the country’s vast untapped potential in the minerals sector.
On the sidelines of the forum, Ali Pervaiz Malik met with Türkiye’s Minister of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar, to discuss mutual cooperation in the energy sector.
A significant meeting was also held with Alexey Miller, Chairman of Russian energy giant Gazprom, where both sides agreed to enhance cooperation between Pakistan’s Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Gazprom.
In addition, the Minister held discussions with representatives from Russia’s geological survey company Rosgeo and AI-based energy firm Nedra Digital on potential investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The visit is being seen as a strategic step forward in promoting global investment in Pakistan’s energy and mineral sectors and in deepening energy ties with the Russian Federation.
