The Ministry of Religious Affairs is set to host the 40th National Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition tomorrow (Wednesday) in Islamabad. According to the ministry’s statement on Tuesday, participants selected from district and provincial competitions across the country will compete at the national level.
The two-day event will feature contests in Quran memorization (Hifz) and beautiful recitation (Qira’at), with the winners announced on Thursday. Contestants from all four provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Islamabad, and the armed forces, will take part in the competition.
Separate categories have been designated for female Hafizahs (female memorizers) and Qariyat (female reciters), ensuring wider participation of women and girls. Winners of the national competition will receive cash prizes and will also have the opportunity to represent Pakistan in the country’s first-ever international Quran competition scheduled for November.
A ministry spokesperson emphasized that the national competition serves as an excellent platform to encourage young boys and girls dedicated to Quranic studies.
