Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a polio vaccination team in the Matta area of Swat, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating polio from Pakistan.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office media wing on Tuesday, the Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Levies personnel Abdul Kabir, who was deployed to protect the anti-polio team. He prayed for the departed soul’s forgiveness and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for their patience and strength.
Calling the attack “intolerable,” the Prime Minister stated:“An attack on those performing the vital public service of polio eradication is utterly unacceptable. These efforts are critical to ensuring the health and future of our children.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that despite resistance from terrorist elements, the national anti-polio campaign will continue with full force and commitment until the disease is completely eliminated from the country.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by frontline health workers in conflict-prone areas, but the government remains resolute in its mission to protect every child from the crippling disease and defeat extremism through perseverance and public service.
