Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf stated on Monday that celebrating Diwali at the state level sends a powerful message to the world that people of all religions in Pakistan live in peace and harmony with equal rights.
Speaking at a Diwali celebration held at the Prime Minister’s House, the minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the event, terming it a symbol of governmental commitment to minority rights.
“The purpose of organizing this event at the official level is to show the world that minorities in Pakistan are not only living peacefully but are also being treated as equal citizens with full rights,” said Minister Yousaf.
He emphasized that Islamic teachings promote equality among all human beings, and reiterated the government’s dedication—particularly that of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—to upholding and protecting the rights of religious minorities.
The event, attended by members of the Hindu community and other faith groups, highlighted Pakistan’s message of interfaith harmony, inclusivity, and respect for religious diversity.
