ISLAMABAD STAFF REPORTER
The second meeting of the National Ulema and Mashaikh Council will be held in Islamabad on Wednesday, under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf.
The Council provides representation to eminent scholars from all schools of thought from across the country. Furthermore, the Ministers of Religious Affairs and Auqaf from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are also members of the Council.
One of the primary objectives for establishing the Council is to seek guidance and consultation from religious scholars on identifying and reforming various societal issues.
It is noteworthy that after assuming his office, Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf revitalized the Council, which was originally formed during the previous government’s tenure, by convening its introductory session four months ago.
The upcoming second session will focus on important matters related to highlighting the significance of the fundamental tenets of Islam and their propagation within society. The Council’s consensus-based recommendations, once approved in the session, will be forwarded to the relevant departments by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
