A tragic accident occurred near the Turkish coastal city of Bodrum in the Aegean Sea, where a boat carrying migrants capsized, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people. According to foreign media reports, the vessel had 18 passengers on board, of whom only two survived.
The governor’s office stated that the incident was reported by an Afghan survivor who swam to shore. He informed emergency services that the boat quickly took on water and sank shortly after departure. Rescue teams managed to save another individual who swam to a nearby island.
The Turkish Coast Guard has deployed four boats, a helicopter, and a specialized diving team to search for any remaining missing persons. The area is considered a dangerous but commonly used route for migrants attempting to reach nearby Greek islands, which often serve as gateways to European countries.
