Three police officers, including Superintendent of Police (Operations) Asad Zubair, were killed and three others injured in twin explosions in Hangu District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed.

According to police, the first blast occurred near a police post in Ghal Mena, damaging a room but causing no casualties. The second explosion, which targeted the police team inspecting the first site, took place in the Darband area, approximately two kilometers away. The attack claimed the lives of SP Operations Asad Zubair and three other officers, while the injured were rushed to DHQ Hospital Hangu for treatment.

Hangu District Police Chief Khan Zeba Mehmood confirmed the casualties and said bomb disposal squads and police commandos had launched a search operation in the area.

Following the attack, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi demanded an immediate report from the Inspector General of Police and convened an apex committee meeting to review the law-and-order situation in the province. In a statement, the Chief Minister strongly condemned the attack, calling it “regrettable” and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice at all costs.

He emphasized that such cowardly attacks would not undermine the morale of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) or the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. The sacrifices of the slain officers, including SP Operations Asad Zubair, would not go in vain, and all resources would be deployed to maintain peace and security. The Chief Minister also prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience for their bereaved families.
