Investigation Finds No Evidence of Suicide in Death of SSP Adil Akbar

Islamabad SPECIAL REPORTER

The investigative committee probing the death of SSP Adil Akbar, posted in the federal capital, has concluded that there is no evidence of suicide in the case. According to police sources, the officer’s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the face. The post-mortem report was received by the committee eight days after the incident, and the final inquiry report is set to be submitted to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi today along with the recommendations of IG Islamabad.

The incident occurred near Serena Hotel in Sector G-5, one of Islamabad’s sensitive areas. Initial reports suggested that SSP Adil Akbar, who served in the Industrial Area, had attempted to shoot himself near Serena Chowk. He was found injured and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The three-member inquiry committee, headed by DIG Haroon Joya, completed the investigation after reviewing the post-mortem report and recording statements from the officer’s wireless operator, driver, staff, and a psychologist. Sources indicated that the committee found no evidence supporting the claim of suicide.

It was noted during the investigation that SSP Adil Akbar had consulted his doctor twice in recent days. Despite being diagnosed with dengue three days prior to the incident, he continued to perform his duties and had reportedly submitted leave requests due to his illness.

The inquiry report will now be presented to IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, who will forward it along with his recommendations to the Interior Ministry for further action.
