The 26th meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) concluded successfully in Islamabad, hosted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The three-day international conference was held from November 5 to 7, 2025, in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT).
The summit brought together heads of regulatory bodies, policy experts, and prominent industry representatives from across South Asia. Participants engaged in detailed discussions on regional digital cooperation, promotion of advanced technologies, and the adoption of improved regulatory practices.
According to a PTA statement released on Friday, the meeting reviewed the “Tokyo Statement 2025,” aimed at promoting sustainable, accessible, and equitable digital development in South Asia. Sessions and working groups focused on topics such as new technologies, universal connectivity, efficient spectrum utilization, and regulatory innovation.
Member countries presented reports under the SATRC Action Plan Phase IX and approved Phase X, designed to further strengthen regional digital growth and cooperation.
The successful hosting of the conference highlighted Pakistan’s growing role in the region. PTA reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing digital connectivity, policy alignment, and technology integration, ensuring a robust and digitally empowered future for South Asia.
