Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Punjab, Shazia Rizwan, participated in the annual Lok Mela at Lok Virsa, Shakarparian, Islamabad. The festival, held every year, showcases Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and arts.

The event highlighted the unique cultures of all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Visitors enjoyed colorful stalls representing different regions, along with music, dance, craftsmanship displays, and traditional food stalls.

Punjab’s cultural stall drew particular attention with its display of traditional Jhumar and Gidda dances, handcrafted items, Chunri and Balochi embroidery, clay pottery, and local delicacies. Shazia Rizwan visited the Punjab stall, interacting with artisans and performers, and praised the province’s rich heritage, hospitality, and artistic contributions as a distinct part of Pakistan’s cultural identity.

Speaking at the event, she said, “Cultural festivals are a symbol of our national identity and unity. Programs like these not only entertain the public but also promote brotherhood and cultural harmony across Pakistan.” She added that having participated in last year’s festival, she found this year’s event even better organized and more vibrant.

Shazia Rizwan also acknowledged Lok Virsa’s efforts in preserving and promoting Pakistani culture. The mela attracted large crowds who especially enjoyed the open-air musical night, with attendees saying that such festivals provide a joyful way to connect with their cultural roots while celebrating national heritage.
