Work has commenced on the project for the rehabilitation and upgradation of old sectors and Markazs in Islamabad. The Engineering Wing, CDA has presented a comprehensive plan for the upgradation and rehabilitation of the Federal Capital, Islamabad. This plan was presented during a review meeting on Tuesday at the CDA Headquarters, chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, regarding the rehabilitation and upgradation of the sectors. The meeting was also attended by Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, DG Works and other relevant officers of the Engineering Wing.

According to details, in the initial phase, the MPO Directorate will recarpet the busiest commercial areas, including Blue Area, F-6 Super Markaz, and the F-7 Jinnah Super Markaz. Similarly, the upgradation of all streets in Sector I-14 and the roads and streets of the D-12 Markaz will also be carried out in the first phase. Furthermore, the recarpeting work on the major and service roads of Sector E-12 will also be completed in the first phase.
It is to be noted that under the rehabilitation and upgradation plan for various sectors of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, the phased rehabilitation work of all Sectors and Markazs will be completed swiftly.
Briefing the meeting, it was informed that in line with the instructions of Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the restoration work on zebra crossings along various city highways has also been initiated. Similarly, priority-based restoration work is being carried out on zebra crossings located near hospitals, educational institutions and the busiest highways.
Chairman CDA said that for the restoration of zebra crossings, the use of the best materials and adherence to quality standards must be ensured at all costs. He said that along with detailed road recarpeting, patchwork should be carried out on highways, streets, and markets throughout the city as needed.
Briefing the meeting, it was informed that under the rehabilitation and upgradation project, the repair of existing footpaths and the construction of new footpaths will also be undertaken. Similarly, under this project, the repair of faulty street lights and poles in the sectors and the installation of new street lights and poles will also be carried out. Furthermore, the installation of signage boards for public guidance and speed breakers is also part of the project.
The meeting was informed that special work will be carried out in the sectors to cover the sewage and drainage system and all service manholes. The meeting was also informed that the survey of roads, streets, markets, and markazs under the rehabilitation and upgradation project for all sectors and centers has already been completed.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the sectors, reliance should be placed on the authority’s own resources.
