Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the installation of digital surveillance cameras outside all schools and educational institutions across the province to strengthen security and monitoring.
She has also instructed the Punjab Police, in coordination with the School Education Department, to conduct mock security drills at educational institutions. The presence of security guards, entry checks, and CCTV cameras at schools has been made mandatory.
A decision has also been taken to register drivers and staff of buses traveling to and from other provinces. Police and other law enforcement agencies have been directed to coordinate with the Motorway Police to enhance overall security.
The Chief Minister has further ordered the improvement of digital monitoring and security in parks across Punjab, directing the Safe City Authority to conduct a functional review of cameras throughout the province and to ensure full CCTV coverage in cities including Lahore and Rawalpindi.
She has instructed that CCTV cameras installed in homes and markets be linked with the Safe City system and that continuing combing operations be carried out for the timely identification of anti-social elements.
To further strengthen action against illegal Afghan nationals, a decision has been made to establish contact with residents from other provinces living in Punjab. DCs and DPOs have been instructed to engage with local elders in their respective areas.
The Chief Minister also ordered the preparation of a computerized record of individuals from other provinces residing in Punjab to facilitate identification and to clearly differentiate between legal residents and illegal Afghan nationals.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that no major public place in Punjab should remain without digital surveillance, vowing to continue efforts until Punjab is made the safest province. She emphasized that full cooperation from citizens is essential to achieve this goal.
She appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities immediately by calling 15.
Expressing satisfaction over the current law and order situation, the Chief Minister directed the police and law enforcement agencies to continue performing their duties with dedication and commitment.
