Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid tribute to the bravery and valor of the Pakistan Navy on the occasion of “Hangor Day,” celebrated on December 9, 2025, highlighting the historic achievements of naval officers during the 1971 conflict.
In his message, the Prime Minister recalled how the PNS Hangor submarine, under the leadership of its officers and crew, delivered an unparalleled performance in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime borders on December 9, 1971. Their courage and daring actions have etched an indelible mark in the nation’s history.
“On this day, the officers and crew of PNS Hangor demonstrated extraordinary valor, proving Pakistan’s defense capabilities to be unassailable. The nation takes immense pride in the Navy and its invaluable assets like the Hangor submarine,” he said.
PM Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that throughout history, the Pakistan Navy has consistently thwarted covert attacks by adversaries with unmatched skill and fearlessness, enhancing the country’s honor and prestige. He added that Pakistan remains committed to regional and global peace and coexistence while maintaining a steadfast resolve to strengthen and protect its national defense.
“The significance of December 9 serves as a reminder to adversaries that Pakistan’s maritime borders are safeguarded by vigilant and capable hands,” the Prime Minister concluded.
