State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is using social media accounts to manipulate trends, including foreign-funded operations. Speaking at a press conference in the federal capital, Talal Chaudhry stated that terrorist organizations are also exploiting social media, but the government remains committed to freedom of expression.
He claimed that certain elements are running malicious campaigns against state institutions, adding that national sovereignty will not be compromised. According to the minister, PTI allegedly uses social media to push a particular narrative, with paid tweets and trends being created through bidding by certain companies.
Talal Chaudhry further alleged that PTI social media accounts are primarily operated from North America, Europe, and South Asia, and these accounts also create trends in favor of TTP, BLA, and Israel. He stated that authorities have gathered substantial evidence regarding these activities and warned that fake accounts operated from foreign countries will face strict action if the practice continues.
