Focal Person to the Chief Minister of Punjab for Polio Eradication, Ms. Azma Kardar, visited the DHQ Hospital where she inspected various wards and inquired directly from patients about the medical treatment, facilities, and availability of medicines. She also conveyed good wishes from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to the patients.
During the visit, the focal person carried out a detailed inspection of the hospital’s emergency department and pharmacy, reviewing medicine availability and records. Chief Executive Officer Health and Population, Dr. Mazhar Abbas Baloch, briefed her on the healthcare services and overall performance of the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Azma Kardar said that under the Chief Minister’s “Healthy Punjab Vision,” the provision of quality healthcare services and timely availability of medicines to the public is the government’s top priority, and strict monitoring will continue. She described the overall performance of DHQ Hospital as encouraging.
Later, the focal person visited Bhakkar district, where she received a detailed briefing at the DC Office committee room regarding the ongoing four-day polio eradication campaign. Deputy Commissioner Ahsan Ali Jamali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Abdul Qadeer, CEO Health Dr. Mazhar Abbas Baloch, members of the peace committee, media representatives, and health officials were present.
The deputy commissioner informed the meeting that a total of 1,500 teams have been formed for the polio campaign in the district, including 1,373 mobile teams, 50 transit teams, and 77 fixed teams. The CEO Health shared details of the campaign’s two-day performance and daily targets.
Addressing the meeting, Azma Kardar emphasized that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is giving special attention to the health sector. She said polio eradication is a national responsibility and urged all segments of society to play their role in ensuring the success of the campaign.
