Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Elections Postponed Due to Severe Weather Conditions

Gilgit (Bureau Report):

The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have been postponed due to worsening weather conditions. According to the Election Commission, an all-party conference was held regarding the elections, during which the decision to postpone the polls was made.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had supported holding the elections on January 24, but 13 other parties opposed the schedule for the general elections. The Election Commission stated that a new date for the elections will be announced later.

The decision to delay the elections was made in light of severe weather conditions, ensuring the safety of voters and election staff in the region.
