Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that if peace negotiations regarding Ukraine fail, Russia will not hesitate to seize Ukrainian territories by force. Speaking at the annual Ministry of Defense meeting, Putin stated that Russia will not compromise on its demand for the transfer of certain Ukrainian regions, despite pressure from the United States and European countries to reach a peace agreement.Putin criticized Ukraine’s European allies, emphasizing that Russia seeks to resolve the root causes of the conflict through diplomatic channels. However, he warned that if Ukraine and its foreign supporters continue to refuse serious negotiations, Russia will achieve its objectives by military means.

He stressed that regions which Russia considers its historical territories must be liberated under all circumstances, noting that these areas have become the main sticking point in ongoing peace talks.Meanwhile, the United States and European nations have intensified diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, yet clear differences persist over the status of Ukrainian territories and security guarantees.

According to a report by the Institute for the Study of War, a US-based research organization, if Russia continues its current military advances at the same pace, it could potentially seize all areas of the Donbas region by August 2027.
