Sindh Government Launches Scooter Training Program to Empower Women

Karachi (Bureau Report)
The Sindh government has launched another initiative to empower women by starting scooter-riding training programs across the province. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that scooter training has already begun in Karachi’s areas of Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Malir.

He added that working women who have applied for the Pink Scooter Scheme will be given special encouragement in all districts of Karachi. According to Sharjeel Inam Memon, the training program in Hyderabad has been underway since December 18, while similar programs will soon be launched in other cities of Sindh.

The senior minister announced that scooter-riding training will also begin shortly in Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas. He said the training is being provided to ensure safe riding practices and aims to promote secure and convenient mobility for women.

Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized that women’s empowerment is among the top priorities of the Sindh government. He stated that women’s independence is not limited to economic empowerment alone but is also closely linked to social freedom. Without safe transportation facilities, true empowerment of women is not possible.

He further said that the scooter training program is an important step toward building women’s confidence, self-reliance, and practical independence. Both students and working women will benefit from the scheme. For applications and further details, applicants can visit the website smta.sindh.gov.pk.
